“It is my will that you call the patience you so prize to your employ.”

Petulance makes a most curious weave of the Elvenking’s brow, but Loki does not bow to it. Circumstances have presented him with leverage in his affections, and it is in his nature to make use of it. With Thranduil’s back turned, he waits with fingertips to the Elf’s shoulder until he takes to his chair, and once he grows still Loki gathers back the silver fall of hair ( like Vanir silk, yet finer still! ) and pins it in place with the carven ivory and opal comb he has found in his wanderings. It glitters but not garishly so, until the piece seems part of his lover no matter the turn nor twist of Thranduil’s elegant head.

Only for Loki he bends his will, even for so small a thing. As still as stone he sits, waiting and patient as those pale fingers run through his long locks. It is when those hands fall from his hair that he moves once more, glancing over his shoulder at his lover momentarily, before his own hand rises to inspect Loki’s work. Gently, he runs his fingertips over the comb, feeling of the stones and patterns there. His hand falls to his lap, and his gaze moves to Loki once more.

      “May I see it now?”
